The Great Lockdown of 2020 will be remembered by all of us, for reasons good and bad, but there are some names that will stick in our minds. Joe Wicks is just one of a great many celebrities and influencers using their profile to improve the lives of those of us safe at home, in his case by offering daily ‘PE lessons’ to the nation.

If, like me, you had good intentions of getting fit in lockdown but it hasn’t quite happened, all hope is not lost – those YouTube videos are still right there where you left them! If the thought of returning to your school days doesn’t appeal, there are literally endless options to explore. These are a few of our favourite YouTubers, all offering something a bit different.

The Ballet Coach

Sarah De-Feu is a ballet teacher with engaging classes for all ages. She streams live classes including Basic and Intermediate Adult classes or a Grandmas and Grandpas class offering light movement and stretching. Classes are around half an hour each.

Yoga with Adriene

With over 7 million subscribers, Adriene must be doing something right! Her channel offers a huge library of free yoga videos and it is easy to find a suitable practice whatever your level or focus. If you’re brand-new to yoga, the Yoga For Beginners or Foundations of Yoga series is a good place to start. There are also workouts sorted by length so you can easily slot it into your day.

FitnessBlender

Husband and wife team, Daniel and Kelli, pride themselves on gimmick-free fitness and have over 600 free full-length workout videos to choose from. If you access the videos via their website you can even search by duration, difficulty, body focus, training type and equipment needed.

KungFu.Life

Who could be better to share his specialised kung fu knowledge than a 34th generation Shaolin Warrior Disciple from Shaolin Temple, China? Master Yan Xin’s channel promises Kung Fu tutorials and workouts which are authentic, easy to follow and fun to do. Kung Fu is excellent exercise and also offers benefits for your mental health so well worth a watch.

Walk at Home by Leslie Sansone

One of the top-selling fitness brands in America, Walk at Home has a track record for improving fitness through walking. The workouts are fun and time or distance focussed which gives a nice, clear target to work towards.

Rebound Fitness

This channel features workouts on mini-trampolines! These can be picked up relatively cheaply and don’t take up a great deal of space. There are videos for all ability levels and a range of international presenters leading the workouts.

Taiflow

We love that Leia’s workout only takes five minutes each day. It encourages the regular practice of simple moves that are believed to build strength and bring emotional, mental and physical balance to your life. Her channel also includes some useful meditation exercises.

Mr Motivator

From his resurrected 90s videos to his more current ‘in da house’ series, Mr Motivator’s 12-minute aerobic workouts are good fun and can’t fail to boost your mood!
