SPRINGFIELDS BY EMH – WHERE LIGHT AND SPACE WILL HELP YOU THRIVE

Springfields

When somebody mentions ‘supported living’ what springs to mind? It’s probably fair to guess that most people’s preconceptions of moving to accommodation with a care team on hand 24/7 don’t feature a bistro, a beauty salon, and a community hub for socialising with friends and neighbours! However, this is precisely what is on offer at emh’s new Springfields development, which is nestled in glorious surroundings, in the heart of the National Forest.

The thriving Leicestershire spa town of Ashby de la Zouch originally rose to international acclaim thanks to its mineral-rich natural springs, which drew the cream of Victorian society to ‘take the waters’. One of the most popular sources was on the perimeter of the former Holywell Spring Farm, which is now home to Springfields’ 65 supported-living apartments.

Ashby de la Zouch’s spa heritage has inspired both the concept and architectural design of Springfields, where the emphasis is firmly on its community’s wellbeing. The whole development is flooded with natural light, to help maintain physical and mental health, and the spacious apartments and public areas are designed to accommodate the needs of all residents, no matter what their support needs may be. However, despite offering exceptional accessibility, there is nothing institutional about Springfields, which offers stylish, contemporary accommodation, set in beautifully landscaped grounds, and is designed to maximise residents’ opportunities to lead an active lifestyle.

The development is principally designed for over 55s, but a handful of apartments will be made available for younger people with additional care needs, thanks to emh’s excellent track record of providing bespoke support packages, which help residents to maintain as much independence as possible. However, choosing to live in one of Springfields’ purpose-built apartments does not mean giving up things that you love, as there will be plenty of space for visitors, a welcome for beloved pets, (Within reason and with respect for the neighbours, of course!) and well-maintained gardens to enjoy at leisure.

Springfields consists of 65 one and two-bedroom apartments, of which 15 are available for shared ownership sale*, and 50 for rent and they are all built to the same high standard. None of the apartments have been pre-allocated for either rent or sale, with the choice of an apartment being down to individual preference, subject to availability. The floor plans, along with plenty of information on all aspects of the development, can be found here: emhcareandsupport.org.uk/springfields

Every apartment is completely self-contained and designed to facilitate wheelchair access and the use of mobility aids, should they be required, either now or later in life. Security has also been carefully considered, with a video entry system at the main entrance, and secure access to individual apartments and connectivity is more important now than ever, so residents will benefit from high speed fibre-optic broadband access in the communal areas.

*Shared ownership means that you buy a share in your apartment, (for example 25%, 50% or 75% of the full purchase price). The higher your share, the less you will pay in rent and once you reach 75% there is no rent payable. The rent you do pay will be government-subsidised through the Help to Buy Scheme, and you only need to pay a deposit on your purchased share.
