CASE STUDY – SUE AND BOB AUTY

Share

A couple seeking luxury bungalow living on a budget are now living in their “forever” home – thanks to a leading bungalow provider’s bespoke service

Sue, 57, and Bob, 69, Auty from Northampton dreamed of retiring to the South Coast, and soon discovered Wickham Court in the Meon Valley, just a 25-minute drive from Portsmouth Harbour.

With house prices in Wickham averaging around £439,553[1] the married couple of 26 years were unsure that their budget would stretch to what was needed for the picturesque location. It was then that the couple spotted an advertisement for a £150,000 44 x 14 ft plot at Wickham Court however, and, conscious of Bob’s impending retirement, decided to sign on the dotted line straight away.

“After viewing the development, we made a deposit there and then,” said Bob, a former coach driver, “both the cost and timing was perfect”.

It was only upon their return home that they begin to discuss the possibility of buying a larger bungalow. After getting back in touch with RoyaleLife – and one of its Home Part Exchange partners – the couple were shown several bungalows with a larger plot size.

With their “forever” home in mind however, the homes on offer just didn’t seem to meet their personal taste.

“Our sales adviser then mentioned a style of bungalow along the lines of what we were looking for that had just been sold. We went to view the property and instantly fell in love with it. The price tag of £225,000 however, was just out of our budget.”

Understanding the importance of finding the perfect home for their customers, RoyaleLife worked closely with the manufacturer to adapt a bungalow that would fit the Auty’s budget.

“We were over the moon to be told that our ideal style of home could be reduced by 4ft in length for us. By taking out the back door and replacing three windows in the lounge with patio doors, they were able to comply with the requirement for two access points – and drop the price down to £195,000 in the process.”

Sue and Bob’s bespoke bungalow came in at 38 x 20 ft and offers a separate lounge, open plan kitchen/dining room with centre island, two bedrooms with an en suite and walk-in wardrobe to the master bedroom and a further bathroom with bath and “over bath shower”.  With their new home secured, the next step was a stress-free sale of their own property – a three bedroom terrace property in which they had lived in for 15 years.

The couple opted for a house sale through one of RoyaleLife’s Home Part Exchange partners’ suggested estate agents and promptly put their home on the market. In an exciting turn of events, it took just five and a half hours for the property to sell – and at the full asking price.

Now, four years on, the Auty’s are living their dream life and are certain they’ve found their “forever” home.

“We love living at Wickham Court – it was the best thing we have ever done. Not only do we live in the perfect location, but the community aspect here is also fantastic. We have made so many new friends, and, outside of lockdown, we often use the pool, gym, and bar facilities. We couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!”.

Wickham Court is nestled in the beautiful Meon Valley, set in the stunning Hampshire countryside. The secure gated development boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym and a residents’ lounge, while the modern bungalows boast their own garden and private parking.
