CASE STUDY – DOWNSIZING TO HAMPTON MANOR

Share
Hampton Manor

Having lived in their family home in Worcester Park, London for 40 years, John and Peggy Higgins took the decision to downsize. Both their son and daughter now have families of their own and the couple wanted to be closer to their daughter who lives in Milford near Godalming – and to live in a home of a more suitable size that would be easier to maintain

The couple’s daughter was instrumental in the search for the right property – and she soon discovered Beechcroft’s Hampton Manor in Godalming. The rest, as the saying goes, is history. Mr. and Mrs. Higgins are now the first homeowners to move into this beautiful development and are looking forward to welcoming their new neighbours.

Set in three acres of mature, beautifully-landscaped gardens, close to Charterhouse School in Godalming, Hampton Manor is an impressive Arts & Crafts style building featuring an exclusive collection of just 24 new and converted two and three bedroom apartments by Beechcroft’s Special Projects’ division. Each apartment provides generously proportioned living space and either a terrace, balcony, private garden or roof garden along with allocated parking.

“We were considering the possibility of downsizing and our daughter told us that the apartments at Hampton Manor were being sold off-plan. When we saw the show home, we were really impressed; the kitchens and the fixtures and fittings were superb and we put a deposit down almost straight away,” says Mrs. Higgins.  “We had five offers on our house in Worcester Park and the estate agent accepted the most suitable one. Then we went into lockdown and we didn’t hear anything for a few months. Suddenly, at the end of July, we exchanged contracts, completed on the sale of the Worcester Park house and the purchase of our new home and moved – all within a few days.”

“We absolutely love our apartment, Hampton Manor and Godalming,” says Mrs. Higgins. “Our apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large balcony and beautiful views over Farncombe Common. It’s just perfect for us. We have had years of doing decorating – and we wanted something that would be easy to manage. The communal gardens will be delightful when the work is completed. Living here, we’ll be able to see our daughter’s children more often – which will be lovely.”

“There’s nothing we miss about our former home,” continues Mrs. Higgins. “Our friends have already been down to see us – it’s only about 30 minutes’ journey down the A3. We have been surprised at how quickly we have settled in – we felt at home from the first day. We love Godalming – there are beautiful walks and lots of greenery, the people seem friendly and the shops are nice – there’s a Waitrose and a big Sainsbury’s. We’re looking forward to exploring all the villages in the area. It won’t be long before we have some new neighbours – several of the apartments have been reserved but for now I’m the lady of the manor!”

Mr. and Mrs. Higgins – and their future neighbours – will have the benefit of an estate management service. The on-site Estate Manager will handle the day to day administration of the development, including the upkeep of both private gardens and the landscaped setting, and be on hand to offer help and advice – and keep an eye on properties whilst owners are away.

Currently, prices for two bedroom apartments at Hampton Manor range from £550,000 for a two bedroom converted apartment on the ground floor with a sunroom and private terrace to £935,000 for a two bedroom apartment with study, terrace and private garden.
