CASE STUDY – JANE AND CLIFF
A low maintenance lifestyle has attracted the first residents to Saltash’s new luxury development, Dolbeare Court
Jane Kiely, 77, and Cliff Lambert, 83, made the decision to move after health reasons prompted the couple to swap their three-storey terraced cottage for low-maintenance bungalow living.
Jane said, “Our cottage had 38 steps, so after Cliff began having issues with walking, we agreed that it would be sensible to live somewhere all on one level. However, it was difficult to find bungalows on the market, and those that we did come across needed a lot of updating.”
After a fruitless search in an undersaturated bungalow market, Jane and Cliff discovered RoyaleLife, a luxury bungalow provider for the over 45s.
Situated just a 30-minute drive from their home in the village of Calstock, Dolbeare Court offers a wide selection of high-quality bespoke bungalows set against a stunning countryside backdrop.
In fact, it was the picturesque location – as well as its “pet-friendly” policy – that sealed the deal for Jane, Cliff and their two dogs; Ludo, a Cockapoo, and Fudge, a working Cocker Spaniel.
“We are ramblers and very active in the local community, so remaining close to our social groups, while still benefiting from a rural location was important.” said Jane, who often leads regular walking groups outside of lockdown.
“Dolbeare Court provides us with ample opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside. There is a public footpath nearby, and quiet, unspoilt lanes waiting to be discovered. The development itself is very green and is home to a number of wildlife, including a beautiful woodpecker which visits the thicket outside our home. We also have the most stunning sunsets which are a joy to witness.”
Just 10-minutes from the development is the town of Saltash –known as the Gateway to Cornwall – just across the River Tamar from Plymouth. Home to the iconic Royal Albert Bridge, the vibrant town is steeped in history and offers stunning views and a thriving community atmosphere.
Robert Bull, CEO of RoyaleLife said, “Dolbeare Court is a fantastic new community in the heart of the Cornish countryside, and we wish Jane and Cliff many happy years in their new home.
“We agree that the wider property market is not offering enough low-maintenance, smaller homes. In fact, a recent study from RoyaleLife has backed this, revealing that more than half of those over 50 believe there are simply not enough options We are striving to change this, by providing high-quality, bungalows in stunning locations across the country.”
RoyaleLife is currently bringing new homes to Cornwall through its developments Dolbeare Court, in Saltash, and Meadowlands Court in Widemouth Bay.
